UAlbany STEP

WHAT

The Albany High School Science Club has worked with the University at Albany Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) for many years. From its inception, the STEP program was charged with increasing the number of historically underrepresented and economically disadvantaged students pursuing careers leading to professional licensure or professions in mathematics, science, technology and health-related fields. This year we are expanding to form the Albany High School University at Albany STEP Club. That means that the club will also explore New York State licensed professions:

WHO

Every student at Albany High is encouraged to take advantage of STEP.  STEP is a New York State Education Program that serves students in grades 7-12 from underrepresented groups. The State of New York has designated African Americans/Blacks, Latinos/ Hispanics, Native Americans and Alaskan Natives/Pacific Islanders as members of underrepresented groups. STEP also reaches out to the economically disadvantaged.

WHEN

STEP will meet after school, Monday through Thursday, at Albany High School in room 324 and Saturday at the University at Albany campus, 1400 Washington Avenue.  Transportation will be provided for Saturdays and trips.
