I’m not big on setting five or ten year plans. One of my favorite quotes is, “Man plans and God laughs.” I hope and aspire for many future achievements but life throws you many curve balls. For the sake of this blog, I will try to illustrate where I hope to be in five years. By 2018 I would be a second year associate at a law firm. Not just any law firm, but one on a high floor, in some sky scraper in the heart of New York City.
I don’t ever want to leave the city so I need to be working in Manhattan. This firm will be a private firm with their hands in various pots. I don’t want to limit myself to one specific area of law. My specialty will probably be in either Corporate law or Criminal law. I intend to be the best in my field, but this is still early on in my career.
I want to be living in Queens, specifically Malba. I will have a big home, a few pets, and my sister. She’s my twin so I don’t think I can let her go yet. I don’t want to be married or have a family yet because I have a lot I want to do before settling down. If I happen to be married, kids are nowhere in sight. I want to be primarily focusing on my career so that I can establish myself in my field and not have to struggle for years to come.
