How has your experience at UAlbany been so far?

University at Albany was my dream school and just knowing that this was the school I was going to attend made me even more excited than a normal college student. The first day I got to the campus I was a stressed out for many reasons. One being I had to take the mega bus with my mother and 3 suite cases. The day I moved in was so hot I thought I would melt away in seconds. My mother didn't even have any time to go up to my room; the 16th floor; to see how the room looked because she had to leave for the bus. That first day was very stressful, but at the end of the day I reunited with my EOP family.  The whole weekend we went out, bonded and talked about our goals for our first semester. I honestly love all of my classes especially my psychology class.

Experience at UAlbany: So far at UAlbany, I have had pretty much a good time. I have gotten over my homesickness and I am learning how to travel around here. It’s nothing compared to the city. I have gotten along with my suitemates pretty well. Right now we are in the struggle of deciding to de-triple or not. It’s a hard choice but it will be solved eventually. Overall, I have had a good experience, except for the fire drills. Nobody wants to deal with a 3 in the morning firedrill, especially if its on your birthday.

My experience at UAlbany has been really valuable to my growth as a young adult. I realize that soon I can't depend on my parents for everything because I have to be an adult in the future. Since classes started I have noticed one change about myself, I have changed my study habits. I spend a lot more time reading than I've ever spent in High School. The time I've spent reading helps me in class because I remember the material and I truly understand what my professors are saying. The best thing so far since being here at UAlbany is that my roommates and suitemates are amazing people. We have a lot of fun when we hang out together. I feel that I got lucky because some people don't have the same experience as I am having. I believe that we will have the best year together.

So far, my experience at UAlbany has been great. I love the campus, it is truly beautiful to me. I felt that the people are very welcoming. Being away from home is a huge difference, the main difference is the independence, you have to do mostly everything for yourself and make your own decisions. If you’ve always been responsible it should not be hard. Being away from your parents actually seems addicting, you'll love the independence. It also seems a bit hard to keep the relationships that you had before you were here, but if you are flexible, it should not be too hard to manage this. You’ll always have fun no matter what you’re doing because most your friends are only a walk away and they’re most likely doing nothing just like you. The only thing I regret is not appreciating a home cooked meal when I had it.

My experience at the University Of Albany has been nothing short of fantastic! I've met people from all over New York and as well as the country, who have altered and enhanced my perspective. College has shown me the world around me is much larger than just my neighborhood. Coming into college I was worried most of my life would be about the workload but, I found with well managed time, I can socialize frequently while also being active. For example, I recently joined a large laser tag club. This helps me get active while playing a giant game of laser tag.

College has helped me learn more about the subject of Journalism and also caused me to dive into subjects such as Psychology and Criminal Justice. I've only been in college for a month but with the large group of diverse people and vast variety of clubs and subjects at my disposal, I think these next 4 years might some of the best of my life.
