It is true that this world is all about networking. Networking with the right people will take you to places you never thought you could have gone to. These days, technology takes over and all the networkings are done by mostly social media. However, there are bad side effects to this, which can be terrible, even dangerous.
Students these days should really be careful when using social media like Facebook, Twitter, etc. You never know who you end up meeting and who they really are. There are many online predators out there that prey on the innocents. Don't talk to someone that you don't really know or looks very suspicious. You should never ever try to meet up with anyone alone. If you do, at least go somewhere there's a lot of people.
Most important, don't be stupid. Don't fall in love online. Also, these days, everyone does background checks on anyone or anything! So if you have a social media account, please make sure you have things up that are appropriate. Don't put out private information out there for people to see or anything that can jeopardize your status as a student. Nowadays, colleges as well as job suppliers will go through your social medias to see if you're a good candidate. Networkings through social medias can bring people together and open unlimited doors of possibilities if it's all done correctly.
