My role model is Shawn Spencer, a character from the television show Psych. He's a self proclaimed psychic who works for the Santa Barbara police. He used to make money by solving crimes he saw on television and reporting the criminals to the police. However, the police became suspicious of his extensive knowledge of the crimes he solved. To prevent his arrest, Spencer lied by claiming to be a psychic. As a result, the police hired him to solve future crimes.
I like Spencer's willingness to make unusual conclusions and use uncommon methods to solve a case. In one episode for example, Spencer stated that the cause of death for one victim was a T-Rex. As it turns out, the victim was pushed into the teeth of T-Rex fossil he had just discovered.
Spencer also dealt with a case with a missing mummy from a museum. He concluded that the mummy simply "walked" out of the museum. Much to everyone's surprise, someone had swapped the real mummy with himself and walked out after the museum closed.
Shawn Spencer inspires me to accept every possible solution to a problem no matter how silly that solution may be.
