Quote Of The Day: George Washington Carver

11/29/2012

Today's quote of the day is from George Washington Carver. He was an American scientist, botanist, educator, and inventor. Carver's reputation is based on the research that he did with the rotation of crops with soybeans, peanuts, and sweet potatoes. He wanted poor farmers and families to grow and alternate crops as a source for their own food and to improve their quality of life.

On his grave was written, "He could have added fortune to fame, but caring for neither, he found happiness and honor in being helpful to the world."

"How far you go in life depends on you being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and the strong. Because someday in life you will have been all of these. — George Washington Carver"

The world will always remember George Washington Carver for his inventions in the field of botany. His main invention was the development of techniques to improve the qualities of soil which was depleted by repeated plantings. Thank you for sharing this.
